Body Construct
Art-Icon, a cultural non-profit organisation presenting international exhibitions of photography and contemporary art, invited me to contribute to Body Construct, an exhibition taking place in Paris during Paris Photo Art Fair.
The brief was to explore the body without a recognisable identity: how gesture, movement and form can convey something of us when the face is hidden.
Working with dancer Katrina Binks, I explored movement and abstraction, with a generous dose of emotion. Against a dark background, I used chiaroscuro lighting to reveal parts of the body while allowing others to fall into shadow. Together, we looked for moments where physical form becomes abstract, while still carrying a very human feeling.
